A Big Challenge for Joshua
Have you ever looked at a difficult task and wondered how you could do it? Joshua faced a much bigger challenge: he led Israel during a time of war, and a large army gathered against them. God told Joshua not to be afraid and promised to help him.
Joshua listened and followed God's direction. The work took time, and Joshua had to keep going. The chapter ends with the people receiving their land and the land resting from war. For us today, this lesson is about trusting God and making faithful choices. It is not a reason to fight other people. Jesus teaches us to love and pray for others.
Bring your fears to God
Joshua 11:6
God knew the challenge Joshua faced. He spoke to him and told him not to be afraid. Joshua could trust the One who had promised to help.

Listen and put the lesson into practice

Joshua listened to God's direction and followed it. He needed more than brave words; he needed to act faithfully.

The campaign took a long time. Deacon Childs reminded the class to keep depending on God and to give Him credit for His help.

Receive rest and choose kindness

The chapter closes with the land resting from war. In the class, Deacon Childs also reminded everyone that Jesus teaches love and prayer for others.

When someone upsets you, pause before answering. Use kind words and ask a trusted adult for help. You can be honest about a problem without being mean.
What Can We Learn?
- Tell God what worries you and ask a trusted adult for help.
- Show faith by doing the next right thing.
- Keep learning, even when a task takes time.
- Thank God for His help and treat people with kindness.
My Trust-and-Obey Plan
Draw four boxes on a sheet of paper. Label them Pray, Listen, Take a Step, and Give Thanks. Write or draw one challenge and the help you need. In each box, show how you will respond this week. Share your plan with a trusted adult and ask them to encourage you.
Weekly Challenge
- Say the memory-verse excerpt with a parent, caregiver, or teacher.
- Practice one task that has been difficult, with help if you need it.
- Use a kind response during a disagreement.
- At the end of the week, name one thing you are thankful for.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for loving me and hearing me. Help me bring You my worries, listen to Your Word, and do what is right. Give me patience when learning is hard. Help me ask for help, thank those who care for me, and show kindness to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
